Worshipping With Passion

This Sunday morning we went to worship at African Christian Church International. It is a big church; the building is beautiful even though it is not completely built yet. The church  members are already worshipping there regularly. This church has about 1,200 members and hold two worship services on each Sunday. The first service runs from 7:00-10:00 am. The second service runs from 10:00-1:00 pm. 

Their worship is very different from other churches that I've been to. The worship team has 3-4 worship leaders. Each worship leader takes turn leading each segment of the worship. In order to create the mood, they begin with singing a worship song and repeat it several times while passionately crying out to God and praying at the same time. The worship team would sing loudly and confidently. They would dance and sway following the rhythm of the beats. Everyone in the congregation would also dance and move with the music lively. It was a beautiful sight to behold. They would sing the song at the top of their voice and straight from their heart. They would dance with all their might without feeling fatigue. Their worship style was very joyful and fun, and also exemplifying their passion. They truly love God with all of their soul, with all their heart, with all their strength and with all their mind. 

The next song leader would then continue with the worship, carrying the momentum up to the climax point. Then the next song leader would slowly bring down the climax. The next leader after that would then lead the congregation into a prayer and allow the congregation to make their own personal prayers. Their entire worship portion took about one hour. 

It was a joyful atmosphere where I can strongly feel the movement of the Holy Spirit among the worshipers. When the worshipers' minds were set and they became more hunger for the Lord, the pastor would then come up to pray with the power of the Holy Spirit and share the Word of God. 

The hosting and the welcoming of the church was well organized. After the service, those who came to the church for the first time were invited into a room. The hosts would bring in snacks and hot tea to serve them. The newcomers took turn introducing themselves and wrote their names and contact information into the church directory. The hosts would then welcome them into the church and invite them to come worship with them next week. The church continues to follow up with them. 

Overall, it was such a joy to be in the presence of the Holy Spirit and to be touched by the worship and the message. I can feel their passion for the Lord and for wanting to know more of Him. It was a great honour to experience such a service. I am inspired by this experience and pray that God would bring such passion to all the churches everywhere. 

เช้าวันอาทิตย์นี้เราไปนมัสการพระเจ้าที่คริสตจักร African Christian Church International เป็คริสตจักรที่ใหญ่ ตัวอาคารนั้นงามสง่า แต่ยังสร้างไม่เสร็จสมบูรณ์ แต่พวกเขาก็ใช้นมัสการปกติ มีสมาชีกประมาณ 1,200 คน เขานมัสการวันละสองรอบ รอบตอนเช้าเวลาตั้งแต่ 7.00 น. – 10.00 น.  รอบที่สองเวลา 10.00 น. – 01.00 น.  การนมัสการของเขาแปลกกว่าคริสตจักรอื่นๆที่ข้าพเจ้าเคยห็นมา ทีมนมัสการของเขามีผู้นำ 3-4 คน แต่ละคนก็มานำแต่ละช่วง เพื่อสร้างบรรยากาศจากการเริ่มต้นด้วยเพลงหนึ่งจะร้องหลายๆครั้ง ร้องและคร่ำครวญต่อพระเจ้า พร้อมกับอธิษฐานคร่ำครวญเช่นเดียวกัน ทีมนมัสการจะนำด้วยเสียงร้องที่ดังชัดเจนและมั่นใจ พร้อมกับเต้นไปตามจังหวะของเพลง ทุกคนในที่ประชุมก็จะเต้นและเคลื่อนไหวเป็นภาพที่มีชีวิตชีวาที่สวยงามมาก เขานมัสการด้วยเสียงเพลงที่ร้องออกด้วยเสียงที่ดังสุดๆที่ออกมาจากใจจริง และเต้นเริงโลดด้วยสุดกำลัง จนไม่รู้สึกว่าเหน็ดเหนื่อยเลย การนมัสการของพวกเขาเป็นการสนุกสนานชื่นชมยินดีที่ออกมาจากจิตวิญญาณที่รักพระเจ้าด้วยสิ้นสุดจิต สุดใจ และสิ้นสุดกำลังความคิด แล้วผู้นำคนต่อมามานำต่อเรื่อยๆ ดูเหมือนกับว่าให้นำที่ประชุมนมัสการไปจนถึงจุดสูงสุด (Climax Point)  แล้วผู้นำคนต่อมาค่อยๆนำคลายจุด Climax ลง ผู้นำคนต่อมาก็นำอธิษฐานและให้ที่ประชุมมีโอกาสร้องทูลต่อพระเจ้าเป็นการส่วนตัว  การนมัสการของพวกเขาใช้เวลาอย่างน้อยหนึ่งชั่วโมง ซึ่งเป็นบรรยากาศที่ชื่นชมยินดี มั่นใจในการทรงเคลื่อนไหวของพระวิญญาณบริสุทธิ์เพราะเราสามารถสัมผัสได้ในที่ประชุม เมื่อจิตใจของทุกคนในที่ประชุมถูกเตรียมพร้อมและกระหายหาพระเจ้า ศิยาภิบาลก็จะลุกขึ้นมาอธิษฐานและเทศนาด้วยฤทธิ์เดชของพระวิญญาณและพระวจนะของพระเจ้า

ปฏิคมและการต้อนรับของคริสตจักรมีระเบียบเรียบร้อยดีมาก หลังจากที่ประชุมเลิกแล้ว ผู้ที่มาคริสตจักรครั้งแรกจะถูกเชิญมารวมกันที่ห้องหนึ่ง ปฏิคมจะนำของว่างและชานมร้อนมาเสริพให้ และให้แต่ละคนแนะนำชื่อเขียนชื่อที่อยู่ลงในสมุดทีคริสตจักรจัดให้ และปฏิคมจะกล่าวต้อนรับและเชิญชวนให้มาร่วมนมัสการในอาทิตย์ต่อมา และคริสตจักรจะต้องติดตามต่อไป

The Battle On the Plane

We flew out of Toronto at about 2 pm. The plane stopped at Montreal and then head on to Zurich, Switzerland. The flight was about seven hours long. We arrived at Zurich at around 1 am (Eastern Time), but it was 6 am in Switzerland. We left at 9 am and headed straight to Nairobi, Kenya. We arrived at the airport around 7 pm. 

While we were on the plane heading to Kenya, I was anxious and my heart was not at peace. I knelt down and prayed on my seat without caring much about other passengers' stares. Prior to our travel, I've spent countless hours praying for the work in Southeast Asia. I prayed for the fight against and the destruction of the principality as well as the rulers and forces of darkness of this world. While I was praying on the plane we flew past each of the five continent and I was able to experience a fight against the forces governing each continent. It started with North America. We flew over Canada, passed America, on to Europe to Switzerland. Then into Africa and Kenya. And from Kenya, we would be heading into Asia and end in Thailand. The only continent we didn't pass was Australia. 

I am not surprised why the Lord led us to choose a travel itinerary that allowed us to pass through all these continents. I believed that the Lord was allowing me to pass through all the continents so that I could pray for the destruction of the dominating forces. The Lord allowed me to pray for the people of these five continents before we could do the work of God. I am confident that God is using us to do this important task before we can begin our work in Thailand. 

We arrived in Zurich and was able to rest for about three hours. There, I had the chance to pray for Switzerland, Europe, and then Nairobi. We arrived at 7 pm. A couple, Francis and Ruth came to pick us up and took us to Thika house, which belonged to Bishop Henry Mulani. We arrived there around 9 pm.    

เราออกเดินทางจาก Toronto เวลาบ่ายสอง เครื่องแวะที่ Montreal และออกเดินทางไปตรงไป Zurich Switzerland ใช้เวลาบินประมาณเจ็ดชั่วโมง เราเดินทางถึง Zurich เป็นเวลาตีหนึ่งที่แคนาดา แต่เป็นเวลาหกโมงเช้าที่ Switzerland และเวลาเก้าโมงเช้าเราออกเดินทางตรงไปยัง Nairobi Kenya Africa  เราไปถึง Nairobi ประมาณหนึ่งทุ่ม ในช่วงอยู่บนเครื่องไปแคนย่าข้าพเจ้ากระวนกระวายจิตใจและร่างกายอยู่ไม่เป็นสุข ข้าพเจ้าได้คุกเข้าอธิษฐานบนเก้าอี้โดยไม่สนใจสายตาคนที่อยู่รอบข้าง ข้าพเจ้ามองเห็นภาพเมื่อก่อนที่จะเดินทาง ข้าพเจ้าได้ทุ่มเทใช้เวลาอย่างมากในการอธิษฐานเผื่องานที่ South East Asia  ข้าพเจ้าอธิษฐานทำลายและต่อสู้กับศักดิเทพ (Principality)  และเทพผู้ครองพิภพโมหะแห่งความมืดของโลกนี้ (Rulers, the force of darkness of this world) ในช่วงอธิษฐานอยู่บนเครื่องบินนี้ทำให้ข้าพเจ้าได้มีโอกาสอยู่ในย่านอากาศเพื่อต่อสู้กับเทพผู้ครองทั้งหลายผู้ครอบครองทั้งห้าทวีป โดยเริ่มต้นที่ทวีปอเมริกา ข้าพเจ้าเริ่มบินจากแคนาดาผ่านอเมริกาไปยุโรปที่สวิสเซอแลด์ ไปทวีปอาฟริกาที่แคนย่า จากแคนย่าเราก็จะบินไปที่เอเชีย ลงที่ประเทศไทย เหลือแต่ทวีปออสเตรเลียที่ไม่ได้แวะลง จึงทำให้ข้าพเจ้าไม่แปลกใจเลยว่าทำไมพระเจ้าให้เราซื้อตั๋วเครื่องบินและบินวนเช่นนี้ ซึ่งข้าพเจ้าเชื่อว่าพระเจ้ากำลังให้ข้าพเจ้าบินผ่านทั้งห้าทวีปและอธิษฐานเพื่อทำลายเทพผู้ครองทั้งหลายก่อน และอธิษฐานเผื่อคนทั้งห้าทวีปก่อนที่จะกระทำการของพระองค์ ข้าพเจ้าจึงมั่นใจว่าพระเจ้ากำลังใช้เราทำงานอย่างหนึ่งที่สำคํญที่สุดก่อนที่จะไปเริ่มงานที่ประเทศไทย เมื่อเราเดินทางมาถึงที่ Zurich เราพักที่นั้นสามชั้วโมง ข้าพเจ้าอธิษฐานผื่อสวิสเซอแลนด์และยุโรป เรามถึง Nairobi เวลาหนึงทุ่ม สองสามีภรรยาชื่อ Francis and Ruth มารับเรา เรามถึง Thika บ้านของ Bishop Henry Mulandi เวลาสามทุ่ม

Leaving For Kenya

This morning was so chaotic, I did not have the chance alone with the Lord. Today is the day that Sarah and I are about to travel to Kenya. There were many friends who came by since the morning to say their last good byes. There were Lee Hang, my prayer partner of more than ten years; Liang and her mother, members of the Grace Lao Mennonite Church and good friends of Sarah; Lynn Lee, our Korean friend who is faithful and love prayers above all things, she has been our prayer partner for the past three years. Our friends came to encourage us and prayed for us prior to our travel. There were also members of my family who were there: Elijah, my first born, and his wife, Mae; Nancy, my beloved daughter and her fiancee, Max. Unfortunately, Peter, our middle son had an important meeting at work that day and was not able to be with us. 

Our children drove us to the Pearson Airport in Toronto. Before we were about to walk through the terminal gate our children watched us until we disappeared behind the gate. My heart dropped at this moment and an unexplainable sadness overcame me when I realized that we are about to part with our beloved and obedient children. However, I remember the Lord's promise that "I tell you that those who leave home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and for the gospel, will receive much more in this present age. They will receive a hundred times more houses, brothers, sisters, mothers, children, and fields—and persecutions as well; and in the age to come they will receive eternal life." (Mark 10:29-30). 

This is the Lord's promise, which gave me the confidence and the strength not to cry in front of my children. My wife and I walked with confidence through the terminal gate until our children can no longer see us. I did not turn back to look at them for the last time because I believe in the Lord's promise. If we follow the will of God, He will bless us one hundred times more. The Holy Spirit will uphold to His promise. At that moment I felt a sense of overwhelming joy in my heart.

เช้าวันนี้เป็นเวลาที่วุ่นวายมาก จนทำให้ข้าพเจ้าไม่มีเวลาพอสำหรับการเข้าเฝ้าพระเจ้า เพราะเป็นวันที่ข้าพเจ้าและอนุสราเดินทางไปแคนย่า อาฟริกา มีเพื่อนรักหลายคนมาบอกกล่าวคำอำลาตั้งแต่เช้า มี Lee Hang เพื่อนคู่อธิษฐานตลอดมากว่าสิบปี เลียงและแม่เฒ่าผู้เป็นเพื่อนรักของอนุสรา และ Lynn Lee เพื่อนเกาหลีผู้ที่สัตย์ซื่อและรักในการอธิษฐานกับเรามาตลอดสามปีที่ผ่านมา พวกเขามาหนุนใจและอธิษฐานเผื่อเราก่อนจะเดินทาง Elijah my first born son his wife Mae, Nancy my beloved daughter and Max they drove for us to Pearson Air Port Toronto.  ในช่วงเวลาที่เรากำลังเดินเข้าช่องตรวจสิ่งของก่อนออกเดินทางลูกก็เฝ้าดูเราจนหายเข้าไปในห้อง เป็นช่วงเวลาที่เราทั้งสองใจหาย หัวใจเต้นแรง กำลังทุกข์ใจอย่างบอกไม่ถูกว่าเราจะต้องจากลูกๆ ที่น่ารัก เชื่อฟัง และรักห่วงใยเราไปจริงๆหรือ? เราจะต้องจากบ้านที่สะอาด อบอุ่น เงียบสงบ และอิ่มหนำสำราญด้วยกายและใจไปจริงๆหรือ  แต่ว่าในทันใดนั้นข้าพเจ้ากลับนึกถึงคำสัญญาของพระเยซูที่ตรัสว่า “เราบอกความจริงแก่ท่านว่า ถ้าผู้ใดได้สละบ้าน หรือพี่น้องชายหญิง หรือบิดามารดา หรือลูก หรือไร่นา เพราะเห็นแก่เราและข่าวประเสริฐของเรา ในยุคนี้ ผู้นั้นจะได้รับค่าตอบแทนร้อยเท่า คือบ้าน พี่น้องชายหญิง มารดา ลูกและไร่นา ทั้งจะถูกการข่มเหงด้วย และในยุคหน้าจะได้ชีวิตนิรันดร์” (มาระโก ๑๐.๒๙-๓๐) นี่คือคำสัญญาของพระเยซูที่ให้ความมั่นใจแก่ข้าพเจ้าที่จะไม่หลั่งน้ำตาให้ลูกๆเห็น และข้าพเจ้าเดินนำหน้าภรรยาอย่างมั่นใจเดินหายเข้าไปในห้องนั้นทั้งๆที่สายตาของลูกๆจ้องมองเราจนเราหายเข้าไป จนข้าพเจ้าไม่กล้าเหลียวกลับมามองลูกเป็นครั้งสุดท้าย เพราะข้าพเจ้ามั่นใจในพระสัญญาของพระองค์ เมื่อเราทำตามน้ำพระทัยของพระองค์แล้ว พระองค์จะอวยพรเราถึงหนึ่งร้อยเท่า เมื่อเรารู้แน่ว่าพระวิญญาณบริสุทธิ์กำลังยืนยันพระสัญญาของพระองค์ และในทันใดนั้นสันติสุขก็เปี่ยมล้นเข้ามาในจิตใจของข้าพเจ้า

Ordination and Mission Sending

Today at Grace Lao Mennonite Church, I had the special honour to be ordained as a reverend by Dr. Henry Paetkau, MCEC Area Church Minister. I received a strengthening message from Brian Baunman, MCEC Mission Minister, and a special mission sending ceremony by Dale Bauman, the prsident of ACMI of Canada. My fellow Grace Lao Mennonite Church members and Hmong friends from First Hmong Mennonite Church came to support and prayed for our sending as missionaries to South East Asia.

I feel blessed to have all these people to come and support our vision. I am excited and am looking forward to serving the Lord in Thailand.
